Ellen’s Stardust Diner, NY, NY
Day 1-The Faeries get to NYC!
After flying from Omaha to Chicago and then to La Guardia Airport, we took a taxi tour to our Times Square hotel. After a quick unpacking, we went in search of Ellen’s Stardust Diner.
The line stretched a block long since no reservations were accepted, but it moved quickly. The food was excellent, and the entertainment was outstanding, with the wait staff, known as the “Stardusters,” performing Broadway songs from the balcony and along the tables runway.
Many performers have been discovered in this historic diner, beginning with Ellen Hart, a former Miss Subway and the owner of the diner.
The faeries and I were entranced! I see my future as a “Starduster” after trying out to be a Radio City Rockette! Unfortunately, they were not performing while we were there.
I was inspired to stop here and take in the atmosphere after finishing “The Last Phone Booth in Manhattan” by Beth Merlin and Danielle Modafferi.
